So I went to the zoo today and it was totally rad! The place was so full of life!

The gorillas were inquisitive and roaming.

A giraffe was chasing a zebra around biting it’s bottom, and the zebra was getting terribly annoyed.

The elephant was taking a mud path, which was fantastic to see up close.

The Bengal Tiger was roaring his head off at the clouds, he knew what was coming.

The lion teens wrestled a bit, and watched us intently.

It started hailing like snow, and I saw the zoo in a whole new perspective!

The Black Rhino went berzerk, and started to charge around his pen at full tilt. I’ve never seen a rhino run up close, it’s rather amazing how fast they move that girth. The elephant reached over his pen and attempted to calm the rhino, but it didn’t seem to help. That was cute too.

The hippotomi opened up for a yell with those massive world crushing jaws (WAY COOL).

After that, the rain got to be to much to handle, so my friend Allison and I dodged into this side pen, where there’s a glass viewing window into a tiger area. WHOA. Guess what, two tigers were lieing right up against the glass. Apparently they were finding shelter there too. So what did we do? We sat right down next to them. Staring face to face at a tiger for close to an hour is a somewhat amazing thing. Gorgeous eyes, gorgeous coat, sleek lines, and nothing but time. It was very fascinating. Eventually, he’d had enougn human for the day, and wandered off, and we wandered off as well. It was still pouring down, but the hail had stopped. Walking through the zoo was like wading in a swamp… there were big thick puddles everywhere.

We made it to the polar bear pen, where to pretty bears were frollicking at the edge of their safety cliff, so the view of their happy faces was almost to much to handle. They were really enjoying the rain.

Hot chocolate from the gift shop really rounded out on of the most amazing Zoo experiences of my life, and I can definitely say I’ll be headed out to the zoo on the next “Free day” , and I hope it’ll be rainin!

  5. Is the new African Safari part as amazing as it should be?

I had so much fun when we went there for your birthday… I think I want to make a trip there when I am back for Christmas!
