Stuff stuff stuff has been happening, and like… some of it is even interesting!!
Tuesday (The Job Hunt): Drove (because I’m still lame) down to the Wharf, and spent 4.5 hours applying at 3 resteraunts. Yuck. Each place had a manual to fill out, a demeaning 30 minute wait to talk to a manager, and an entirely brief/vague conclusion involving the future and other managers viewing my application. The Rainforest Cafe said they would have a bussing position for me, which I declined, Joe’s Crab Shack said they had an immediate hostessing position, but they were unclear on a serving position. I declined the hostess work in hopes of something better. Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Factory gave me an interview, then promised to call my references and get back to me within 48 hours. The question I suppose is, will they actually get back to me, or should I plan on calling them. Yuck. That ended that day.
Wednesday (The Train): I finally got up the courage to give riding the train a shot… Must sound pretty nerdy, but it’s a bit scary riding a form of public transit when you have absolutely no idea where it will take you… fun though… So the first problem I discovered was that I felt like I was the only one paying for the thing. I put my money into a machine and got a ticket, whilst everyone else just jumped on in the back and got off, never having to show proof of payment to anyone. Is their an art to riding free, or do they all have passes? ANYWAYs, I sat down in the back, and located a map of the route on the ceiling, and it started to make sense. The funny thing was, I got as far as West Portal before the train stopped and a voice on the intercom stated that the track was borked, and this was the final stop. Damn. As I got off, there was lots of mass confusion and police man attempting to direct people to random busses and such. I stood around confused for about 5 minutes (I didn’t know where I was going in the first place, so I didn’t know how to ask about getting there
….. I ended up turning right around, wandering West Portal for a bit, and then walking home via Junipero Serra… it was quite a long walk, but I made some “catch up” phonecalls with people to pass the time. So, yeah. Fun.
Thursday (The Train: Redux & Surprise HW!) : In chemistry we found out that there were 2 internet assignments due on Sunday, but since I don’t have the internet, and I don’t want to come here this weekend, that means I have 2 assignments due today. Happy Happy Joy Joy! So, once I get out of Calc at 3 and come back to finish them, I’m going to come go tackle that train! My goal is to get to the Wharf via mass transit, so in my head its as simple as “Goto Embarcadero; then go Left” … we’ll see though… maybe the train will explode!

s.f.muni map. There used to be an art to getting on the back, now it’s just risking if the driver will tell you to knock it off, come round the front, get off or what. Oh, and it risks a 271. fine. If you carry a cell it’s 673-Muni and stay polite with them, sometimes they’ll send people in the most round about methods to get somewhere.
Take the M line to Embarcadero, then transfer to the F line.
Now I say: “No, Kyle, not the Wharf!” After years of visiting the city and always being dropped off by the bus driver at the Wharf for lunch before going to see a show, I avoided it once I moved to San Francisco. Tourist hell, Kyle! Tourist hell!
I’ve had good luck with trip planning via http://www.511.org
I took public transit today too and sometimes wonder that (if I am the only one that pays). On the bus the drivers are pretty strict about it but on Caltrain not once did a conductor come by to check for my ticket and those cost $6 for a day pass from my town to the City.
