Sooooooo, GOOD NEWS! Yay!

I finally found a room in SF. It’s in the Sunset district, around 10 minutes walk from school, and right and a few blocks from 19th Avenue. Originally I wasn’t a big fan of the Sunset, but it is going to make everything easier for the first year or so. Rent is 550 a month, so not much larger than any rent I’ve faced before, and the room is decent. Whistles should be happy as well, since he is welcome and the floor of my room is hardwood, so he can’t perform any shenigans with the carpet. Despite being so far away from anything, that mall off of 19th is near, and Albertsons is within walking distance as well. AND, that train (muni?) goes right up 19th, so I have reliable access to the center of the city. The plan is for the guy owning the room to paint it within the next few days, and I will start moving in on Saturday so that I’ll be ready for school on Wednesday the 25th. Rock! As soon as my loan and scholarship checks come through, I’m going to have Derek help me get a bike too. Biking should be fun! Ah well, that’s all for now!

  1. Sunset isn’t that bad. I liked living around the State area, despite being on the far end of the city.

that mall off of 19th is near

    Stonestown Galleria.

    AND, that train (muni?)

The Muni Metro. It goes up through West Portal, into Forest Hill, Castro, etc, and then makes all the stops BART makes downtown. Plus it’s $1.25 like the rest of the buses.

I’m jealous. :( Have fun in your new place.

  2. What’s the roommate like, how thin are the walls, is there a deposit for zipzoom? BART to downtown S.F. is super quick and I think with a Monthly Muni pass (45$) it’s free. http://www.sfmuni.com/fares/fareinfo.htm#special

Get the Muni Two Dollar Map, it’s the best ’cause it names the small alleyways and everything. Albertsons isn’t gonna be cheap, better to find smaller shops. Congratulations.

    • I don’t think a monthly pass works if you’re taking the closest BART station to him (which would be Daly City) into the city since it’s outside city limits. The monthly pass only works on BART within city limits I believe.

    • Well, one of my roomates, Don, is like a 30 year old guy who lives downstairs, he’s very uncaring about everything, relatively clean, he has a few tatoos and Led Zeppelin posters everywhere. The other roomate is a 21 year old girl who I haven’t met yet. None of my walls connecto to any other rooms, and according to Don he can never he anything from upstairs, so he never knows if the girl who lives there is home or not. The deposit was 500, and he said his policy was to return all of it if I give 30 days notice and all my shit leaves with me.

Where do I pick up the $2 map? I’ll have a while to figure out the transit stuff I suppose :)

      • You haven’t met her? Ho ho ho, welcome to the art of surprise. “Hi, My name is..ky..andthe squirrel at your feet is my buddy, zipzoom, no no no, don’t do that, he doesn’t bite but if you scare him, he’ll..uhoh.”

673-muni, call ‘em and ask. There’s lots of places, presidio and Masonic, 5th and Powell, but they’ll probably know somewhere in your hood.

Your friend is right, BART is only free in S.F. proper.

  3. woot! Im glad you found a place. I hope I see you again before you leave!

  4. Congrats on the city living.

Helmets rule, and so do concise lj usernames.

    • Thanks much! Nice to meet you!

Are you refering to a bike helmet? I’m a big fan of bike helmets! As to my lj username, I like it to (i think you are referring to mine)!

      • Bike as in motorcycle as in something that resembles a bicycle but has an engine and comes with a cool helmet… then yes!

Yes, I am referring to your username, because concise things thrill me. They’re like.. the bits in the world that make everyone else say, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”

Also, because if I were a boy at birth, my planned name was “Kyle” and since I was a girl, they named me Katie. I still wish they had named me Kyle though, because not many girls have that name, and because it is totally sassy!

        • You know, I once asked a girl named Kylea out on a date. Creepy!

          • How is that pronounced. And btw, if it had worked out with Kylea, everyone would have just secretly hated you two for being so cute and having such similar names…

            • It was like, Ky (like Eye) Lee Uh… Kyleeuh. Very weird. Yeah, deep down I knew it was to weird to work too.

              • That’s actually a pretty name… reminds me a lot of Greek names, actually. The name on my birth certificate is Sheba…wtf? What happened with her, if I may ask? If not, sorry to offend… it’s just that such random contact with strangers who are willing to talk is intriguing.

I like to hear stories. It gives me stuff to work off of.

                • Hmm lets see… I was like 17, and she was the first girl I ever asked out on a date as I can recall. I really asked her out because of her name, which may seem strange, but it was such a strange name that I’d never seen before. So anyways, we went out on a few dates, and eventually she just told me she didn’t think we were to much alike, of course we weren’t really, but it still made me sad at the time. On reflection though, I should have known that I don’t really like girls with permed hair anyways. Now I know :)

                  • Heh. Permed hair!! That is great!

Understandable how it would be sad, and it is awesome how you asked her out cos she was unique. No one does that anymore. *applause*
