Ahh today, what a beautiful, beautiful, gorgeous, vivacious, warm, sunny, happy, bright, endearing friday. I didn’t go to school this morning because the sun was so lovely. I layed down on the grass in front of my house for several hours reading. I’ve discovered that there is a disctinct section in Stranger in a Strange Land that I never remembered. It involves the arch-angel Foster and angel Digby in the ‘afterlife’ (I think) discussing the happenings of the world they have left behind for the time. Very interesting, it added a little more depth to the story for me.

Last night I went with Cassidy to the mall, that glorious place of commercialism. I love and hate the mall, maybe sometime when I lack content in my life I’ll elaborate. I bought my good friend Derek his birthday present (He is now 18, his B-day was April 11th), and we eventually saw a movie at the Roxy, where friend Marcus joined us. We saw the movie National Lampoon’s: Van Wilder. It was an amusing film despite the abysmal reviews. It used quite a bit of shock imagery to disgust the crowd, but it was still witty in a humorous way. Ryan Reynolds did an excellent job as Van Wilder. He acted cool enough to fit the role, but he still held enough nerd in him to endear himself to me as a character without coming off as an idiot teen idol type character. The one thing that ruined the movie for me was Tara Reid. I really don’t like her at all. She comes across to me as a poor actor, and an even poorer person. Throughout the movie she was supposed to play a somewhat educated higher class college student, but she just wasn’t believable. Every mannerism she had made her seem dull, unintelligent, and awful. Her good looks aren’t even as good as everyone claims them to be. I’ll take a myriad of the other teen female actors to her anyday. I don’t think I’ll be seeing any movies just because her so called ‘talent’, or lack thereof, graces the titles.

Another special purchase was made by me yesterday. Not only was I able to reserve Star Trek: The Next Generation season 2 on DVD, but I also bought the debut (I think) album of the band called Thursday. They really are an excellent band, and I’m sad I missed them in concert a few weeks ago (the graced The Pheonix on a friday not long past). A comrade from work who goes by the alias of Austin introduced them to me, and invited me to the concert, but I stupidly declined and didn’t research them until the day of when it was to late. If you would like a taste of Thursday, download the song titled ‘Understanding in a Car Crash’. I love this song, it’s heavy, soft, melodic, and wonderful. As soon as I start the song up I can’t help but visualize the pavement painted with ‘blood and broken glass’.

So I hope everyone has a lovely friday, hopefully I’ll toss some fun into it shortly. But until my friends get out of school I think I’ll sit around on the computer for a bit. If anyone cares to say hi, My Aim, ICQ, Kazaa, MTG, and IRC are all active. :)
